Baccarat is one of the oldest casino card games and requires a combination of skill and chance in order to score a win. The game appeals to both experienced and novice players as it does not require intricate strategizing on the part of the player and new players can quickly learn how to play.
The aim of baccarat is to correctly guess whether the player or the banker will receive cards that equal nine in total. Calculating the value of the hand is simple: cards from 2 to 9 are counted according to their face value and all the ten and picture cards are valued at 0. Aces are valued at 1. If the value of the cards totals more than ten, then 10 is subtracted from the total value of the hand. The highest possible value of a hand that can be achieved is 9. Baccarat refers to a hand that is valued at zero. There are three outcomes that can take place namely the player winning, the banker winning or a tie between the two.
Banker’s hand: the banker plays against the player and his hand refers to his cards
Tie refers to an outcome where the player’s hand totals the value of the banker’s hand. If a bet is placed on a tie and is successful it will result in the highest payout of any of the other bets.
Flat Bet: When a player places the same bet for every round
